The Present

The Gift that Makes You Happy and Successful at Work and in Life

Spencer Johnson

This is another quick read from the author of Who Moved My Cheese?

He was also co-author, with Ken Blanchard, of The One Minute Manager.

There is an incisive and thought-provoking approach taken to bring you through an assessment of your approach to determining what is important for both your work and personal life. Ultimately, it focuses on how you can be most effective. The tool used is to focus on the life journey of one young man and his continuing search for that elusive something. The focus is on discovering the key to being effective, applying the skills, learning from the difficulties and challenges arising and finally setting the approach proposed in an overall context.

What is particularly attractive about this book is the simple manner in which it is written, the concept of this being a learning process over an extended period of time, rather than a quick fix. Reading this book in tandem with Nic Clark’s book “Your Business Your Life” or any proposal on the SuccessModel Plan is going to reinforce the approaches adopted and proposed. It is an excellent tool as a “give away”, a gift to any client or potential client who is experiencing stress overload or  frustrations and difficulties in building a team.

The Present is a lovely gift to yourself.  In the spirit of it being better to give, rather than to receive,  you will be happy to give The Present to your clients!

It has 104 pages and it will take less than two hours to read.

In rating this, I’d give it at least four out of five stars.   ****
